Hands-On Mission

Hands-On Mission

Our Mission Outreach Team invites you to some scheduled hands-on, short-term mission opportunities! Each of these teams welcomes new volunteers. If you are looking for a rewarding way to serve God by serving others, there’s a place for you on each of these teams!

Xavier Personal Care Home

Xavier Personal Care Home is a facility for low-income mentally challenged adults. There are very few social activities planned for the residents because the facility can’t afford to hire an activities director. So our Mission Outreach Committee is beginning a series of once-a-month Ice Cream Socials with Bingo for the residents on the third Wednesday each month.

If you are interested in this serving opportunity, please contact Pastor Cyndi or Jean Dobay for details.

Mission Barn

Teams from Ingomar Church participate in ramp building and installation for low-income people who are physically challenged. If you are not a builder, we have another team that checks the disaster relief buckets and other emergency kits to verify that they have all items included and are packed correctly. Kit verification is appropriate for people of all ages.

We serve at the Mission Barn on the 2nd Saturday each month.

If you are interested, please contact Pastor Cyndi for details.

Daily Bread Meal on the Northside

Ingomar Church is a long-time supporter of the United Methodist Church Union project called Daily Bread. We have taken on the responsibility of providing a warm meal to those who are homeless or underemployed on the 4th Wednesday of each month.

Volunteers are needed to serve alongside Paula Dahm and Luann George, whether cooking, baking cookies or going with them to serve the food. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old.

If you would like to help serve, let Paula know you are coming, and then meet at the church by 10am on the 4th Wednesday of the month. Those who serve will be back by 12:45 pm.

If you are interested in helping cook the food or baking cookies, just let Paula know and she will give you more specific instructions.

You can contact Paula at her email address: [email protected].

Global Links

Global Links redirects still-useful materials away from US landfills to support public health programs in targeted communities throughout the Western Hemisphere.

The organization shares experience and technical knowledge with international and domestic partners, and educates volunteers, donors and the community on issues of global health and environmental stewardship.

A team from Ingomar Church serves at Global Links on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. To volunteer to pack supplies at the Pittsburgh location with Ingomar Church volunteers, contact Earl Marsh through IConnect.

World Vision

We send a team to World Vision on the 1st Thursday of each month. Learn more here.

Pleasant valley Men’s Shelter

The Pleasant Valley Men’s Shelter accommodates the needs of 25 men who are homeless every night of the year. The Shelter opens daily at 4:30pm and provides residents with safe, secure sleeping quarters, a hot shower, and a warm evening meal.

Our Mission Outreach Team committed our church to serve these men a hot meal the first Wednesday evening of every other month, during 2023.

If you are interested in helping, please contact Pastor Cyndi for details.
