And When You Pray
Scripture: Matthew 6:7-15

For some reason, lots of folks seem to think that ministers are better at praying than anyone else:
The pastor shows up at a dinner and who is asked to give the blessing?
While it’s less common today than in the past, at a community event a pastor is invited to offer the invocation.
When I joined the Charleroi Rotary, who do you suppose got assigned the lunchtime grace?
Until I told them anyone could do it and gave them a sheet with a dozen prayers.
The fact is, I never had a class on prayer in seminary.
I learned about prayer at our family mealtime and bedtime, in church and Sunday School.
I recall hearing the Lord’s Prayer’s rumbling cadence through the sanctuary every Sunday
And I learned about prayer as I grew up and came to understand I needed God’s guidance.
