The Ingomar community continues to monitor the ongoing situation surrounding the COVID-19 virus, and listening to recommendations of local, state and federal agencies, and we continue to evaluate when it will be safe to resume preschool and childcare classes. As we have seen for the past week and a half, change is constant. No one could have imagined the world in which we are living now, in the midst of a national and global pandemic, with closures, cancelations and mandates to shelter in place.
We are experiencing the unknown while trying to maintain “normalcy” for our children and ourselves. During this difficult time, we at ICEC want you to know that we care deeply for you and your family’s health and emotional well-being. Many of our teachers have been reaching out through email, Facebook groups, classroom communication apps such as Bloomz and Shutterfly or other avenues. I know that every staff member would like to be back in the classroom caring for, teaching and laughing with your children! They miss them so much!
We all pray that this quarantine will be over soon and life will resume as a “new normal”: one that feels familiar and safe. For now, we are all doing our part to keep our “germs” contained and not contribute to the spread of the virus. We send our love and prayers to those of you who are in the medical field and who are caring for the sick. We pray that you will have the tools you need to do your job properly and to protect yourself from getting sick. We are so grateful for you and for those who are helping to provide other needed services during this time. We are doing our part so you can do yours.
In addition to extending school closure, we cancelled Family Fun Night, which was rescheduled for April 17. If you had already registered for the event, your check will be shredded, as it was never deposited. If you paid cash, the amount you paid will be credited to your ICEC account. Similarly, with the bus payments for the 4 and 5-year-old Tiny Tots concert, your ICEC account will be credited for that amount.
Because the last two weeks of March tuition had been paid and deposited at the time of closure, we are offering you a choice of requesting a refund or allowing us to apply those funds to operational costs. A form will be emailed to you on which you can indicate your preference. Please complete it and email back with your response. We understand that financial needs exist in both ICEC families and staff families. We are trying to act with compassion and care during this difficult time.
Lastly, I would like to offer a word of encouragement:
The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice in gladness; he will quiet you with his love; he will exalt over you with loud singing.Zephaniah 3:17
God has not forsaken us during this time of crisis. He is in our midst. He is for us and not against us and he will walk alongside us. We have a wonderful community of families and teachers. I believe God is calling all of us to help one another, to support and pray for each other and to connect and encourage one another in creative and powerful ways. It is my prayer that we will not only do this with our ICEC and church communities, but with our neighbors, our city, our nation and our world. I am praying for you and ask for your prayers and support during this time.
God bless you,
