Ingomar Church Update 2021
with Responses to some Frequently Asked Questions
The mission of Ingomar Church is to reach people with the good news of Jesus and together become fully devoted followers of Christ. We believe that life is better with Jesus at the center and that we exist to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
We believe that Ingomar Church is a first point of connection for people to encounter Jesus to take Jesus to the world. Ingomar Church is a place to learn about Jesus, experience the love of Jesus, and encounter Jesus through worship, fellowship, and service.
Although life has changed dramatically over the past 18 months, we believe we now face a unique opportunity to follow God’s leading. As we move from a time of stabilizing to a time of mobilizing, we are very excited to relaunch our ministry. So much of who we are and what we have been able to experience as a body of believers has changed, but we recognize that change is embedded in the Christian story.
So with great anticipation, we look forward to coming back together, to seeing one another face-to-face, to remembering who we are as followers of Jesus, to beginning new things, and to celebrating our community and experiencing all that God provides for us.
“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”Isaiah 43:19

Why is there a new schedule?
A new schedule benefits the community by enabling single consecutive services without overlap and competition for space. Our preaching will be focused so that all of our worship services hear the same message each Sunday. Our preaching staff is excited about the opportunity for singular focus and messaging.
We have identified and addressed some concerns with previous schedules regarding personnel, preaching, and sound. Our new schedule provides an option for increasing our presence in traditional worship by adding a 10am Traditional service as an alternative to 8:30am. This change also enables us to accommodate our other Sunday morning programming schedules.
By avoiding overlapping worship services at 11am, past issues related to “sound bleed” will be eliminated. Practice for our contemporary worship teams will occur between services and will not interfere with the worship in our sanctuary.
We will continue to live stream our 8:30am traditional and 11:00am contemporary services.
“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”Acts 2:42
What can I expect from 8:30 Traditional Worship?
This worship service will be in person and live streamed to our virtual worshipping community. Our ensembles will continue to participate in the worship and our Wesleyan Choir will participate weekly. Traditional elements of worship include prayers, scripture readings and a message from one of our pastors.
What can I expect from 10:00 Traditional Worship?
This worship service will be traditional in style but shorter in duration. The service will not be live streamed. Our music ensembles will participate and the music ministry is working on specifics for this service. There will always be prayer, scripture, and a message from one of our pastors.
What can I expect from 11:00 Contemporary Worship?
Our Contemporary Worship service is held in our Fellowship Hall, Entrance 8 on the Worship and Education Side of our campus (1500 W Ingomar Road). Our worship team consists of guitars, keyboard, bass guitar, drums, and vocalists leading passionate, modern expressions of music and worship. There is time for prayer, scripture reading, and a message from one of our pastors.
“Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”Romans 10:17
Will the messages be the same at all services?
Yes, one pastor will preach at all worship services each Sunday morning. A consistent voice and messaging allows the entire congregation to hear the same message on a Sunday morning, offering greater continuity for further discussion in small groups and fellowship. The pastors will no longer be repeating messages in consecutive weeks or changing settings weekly.
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”Luke 18:16
What is Kids’ Place?
Kids’ Place is a time in our 8:30 and 11:00 worship services when our children, ages 4 through 2nd grade, go to hear a message geared towards children. Children attend the worship service with parents and depart for Kids’ Place at a designated time. Children return to the sanctuary prior to the end of the service to join their parents. During Kids’ Place, the kids receive a message tailored to their age.
Do children have to go to Kids’ Place?
No, children may remain with parents throughout our worship services in both our Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall.
Do you have a nursery?
Our nursery will be open throughout our Sunday morning schedule and available on the Sanctuary side of our campus in the center hall. It is staffed by a paid ministry leader and volunteers each week. Families with infants to 3-year-olds can use our nursery.
What is Primetime?
Prime Time is for kids age 4 through 3rd grade. It takes place from 9:45am – 10:45am in the MAC room (Multi-Activity Center-Room 227) in the Community Life Center (the building across the street from Sunday morning worship services).
We invite kids to discover and live out a new understanding of how to grow in relationship with Jesus and with others.
The kids have large group time, where they worship together and experience a Bible story and lesson. After large group time, the kids split into their small groups for age-specific activities that coordinate with the lesson. Everyone gathers together at the end for a five minute review. Parents pick their kids up from the small groups. Please contact Danielle Seitz ([email protected]) for more information.
“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”Proverbs 22:6
What is Elevate?
ELEVATE is a program especially for grades 4 through 7 that includes worship, lessons and small groups specifically designed for Pre-Teens and Tweens.
ELEVATE happens during the 9:45–10:45 Sunday morning hour in the Café (Room 107) of the Community Life Center. With a worship style designed to grab the attention of this age-range, and small groups split out by both age and gender, ELEVATE is designed to “elevate” the engagement of Pre-teens and Tweens! Please contact Megan DelGrosso ([email protected]) for more information.
What is Confirmation?
Confirmation is a class for 8th & 9th graders to explore their faith and grow in their relationship with Jesus and their friends. This class leads to church membership in Ingomar Church when they affirm they believe in Jesus. The class begins in September and meets weekly until May when they are confirmed and received into membership of the church.
Where can I go for Information?
You can visit this page (information will be updated periodically as needed) or contact any of our staff members for more information.
Did the leadership and staff consider other options?
Yes. The new Sunday morning schedule is the result of a collaboration of leadership following consideration of all the options and challenges that might exist. Our leadership council has been considering many scenarios throughout the past year and has been encouraging our staff to make needed changes for this coming fall. We explored several models and we believe that this fall schedule is the most effective option for engaging together fully.
“But everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way.”1 Corinthians 14:40
Previously I attended an 11:00 Traditional Service, what now?
We are restoring a second traditional service knowing that 8:30 is too early for some members and families. The selection of 10am as the new time for our second traditional service allows us to address issues of preaching and sound. We recognize that no single option can account for all needs, but we are confident that the resulting benefits are in the best interests of the larger church body.
When can small groups meet?
Adult small groups meet throughout the week.Sunday is not the only time that small groups can meet.Small groups that are short-term and topical will begin throughout the year and meet on Sundays and throughout the week. For those wishing to hold small groups on Sundays, there are time slots available at 8:30am, 9:45am, and 11:00am.
I attended small group meetings on Sunday during Connect and Grow and a later traditional service. What now?
Our new schedule allows multiple options throughout our Sunday morning programming when small groups can meet. Small groups are no longer expected to meet only at 10am. Groups may also choose to meet during the first traditional service and/or during the contemporary service. Make sure to reserve your room when those become available.
Where will my small group and children’s groups meet?
A detailed list of locations for both our adult small groups and children’s ministry will be available soon.
Where will my kids go during the 10:00 Traditional Worship?
Our children’s ministry on Sunday mornings occurs during our Connect and Grow hour. The 9:45am start allows parents or guardians to check their kids into Primetime and Elevate and then return to the Sanctuary for worship. The nursery is available for our youngest children.
If I attend 10:00 Traditional Worship and my kids participate in the Connect & Grow hour, will I be able to pick them up on time?
The 10am traditional service will end at 10:45am, so that parents with children attending Prime Time or Elevate will be able to pick up their children on time.
Will there be coffee?
The best answer is yes! But we need servant hearts to give of their time and energy to help in this ministry area. Hospitality is a significant ministry at Ingomar Church and it happens with your help.
What do I wear?
We want you to always feel welcome at Ingomar Church. You will see some of our members wearing suits and dresses, while others come in casual attire. You are always welcome to worship with us. Our pastors will dress accordingly for the style and setting of worship in which they lead throughout the year.
The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.1 Samuel 16:7
What can I do to help?
Servant leadership and volunteers are critical to who we are and what we do at Ingomar Church, and there are many opportunities for all. Our service to the church is an expression of what God has called us to do. Each of us has things we like to do, groups of people we best understand, and skills that are uniquely ours. Simply put, God has gifted us with different skills and passions, and we are called to serve God by serving others.Whether you are passionate about worship, hospitality, teaching, speaking, sharing, setup, kids, youth, technology, or administration (and many others!), there is a place for you to serve, and we will be happy to help you find that place where you connect your passions with the needs of the church.
“There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.”1 Corinthians 12:4-6
The members of Church staff are talented and gifted, but they cannot be in ministry alone. The work of the church is an awesome and collective calling. It involves everyone, and you are invited!
