Early Response Team

Early Response Team

Ingomar Church has added an exciting ministry. The Early Response Team (ERT) provides a caring Christian presence in the aftermath of a disaster. The ERT is called to a site two or three days after the disaster (typically flooding in western PA), to provide immediate assistance to affected individuals. The team travels within the local district on most occasions, but when a high level disaster occurs requiring a massive response, the team may travel further, or even to other states. The team’s goal is to take steps to prevent further damage to the survivors’ personal property, which may include removing debris, cleaning out a flooded home, tarping, as well as observing and communicating the survivors’ needs to appropriate people. The most important role is to be part of a caring ministry of listeners who help the survivors begin to heal.

You can help:
A current team of 13 people completed the six hour training program. Additional training sessions will take place for those who feel they would like to serve in this ministry. There is also another valuable way to get involved. The ERT is assembling an inventory list of tools and items that are needed to take to the site – everything from tarps and ladders to generators and shop vacs. If you are willing to loan out these items on an as needed basis, you would be contributing greatly to this ministry.
