Imagine how it feels to see your basement or home decimated by flood water. What do you do? Who do you turn to for help?

That’s the reason for our Early Response Team (ERT). We have assembled a team of volunteers, and we can use your help.

An ERT consists of trained volunteers who stand ready to help the survivors of a catastrophe. We clean up the damage to the victims’ homes following natural disasters such as flash flooding from severe storms. Common nearby sites include Connellsville, Charleroi and DuBois, PA and Richwood, WV.

An Early Response Team fills a specific need in the early days following a disaster, establishing the caring presence of the church and providing hope for the survivors. The role of the ERT differs from that of emergency workers or a recovery, rebuild or repair team. Specific tasks are assigned to early response teams, but no task is more important than the people they serve.

Volunteers need to be in relatively good health, complete an application form, agree to attend training sessions and be willing to pay their way or help raise team funds.

If you would like to join the team or help support this mission with funds needed to equip the team, please contact the church office at 412-364-3613.
